LITERATI, the English Association of Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara, consists of a group of people obsessed with creativity, imagination, and language of all sorts. We have been constantly organizing literary events that enhance the creative and ingenious talents of our students, and for the first season of our Mock Press, there came a great number of participations from the students of each and every optional. If you have an imaginative mind that would let you be in someone else’s shoes for a change, and if you have a flair to speak out your thoughts, you can be part of this event. The third season of this mesmerizing program was held on September 30, 2024, at 1:30 pm in the college auditorium, with Dr. Alie Molly Varghis and Dr. Velayudhan Nair T as convenors and Sethulekshmi T and Vismaya Vinod as the student coordinators.


In a mock press event, the participants are requested to be transformed into the celebrity they got by picking the chits, and they have to perform in the mannerisms of that particular celebrity, facing the crowd as well as the judging panel. The panel consists of both teacher and student representatives. Dr. Velayudhan Nair T and Dr. Sony Mary Varghese chaired the teachers’ panel, and the student panel consisted of Lekshmi S and Lekshmi H, Ist year B.Ed., English optional students. The event aimed at identifying the skills of acting in the students, enhancing their quick-wittedness, and ability to take up challenges. The event was a great success as the 14 participants came up with their talents in acting and speaking in the best way possible for them. Finally, after a tight competition, Sruthy M. Nair from Social Science won the first prize with a cash award of Rs 1000, Lakshmi Sunil from Physical Science in the second position won Rs 500, and Febha Sabu from Maths in the third position won a cash prize of Rs 250 for their memorable performance. Ashik M. Modi from Maths won the consolation prize for his remarkable performance as well. The event was well planned and a great success.
